The book chosen for this school year is Alan Gratz’s Refugee, a timely novel told in different voices from three troubled times. This book checks off all the boxes on the criteria list Ms. Marranzini and Ms. Avelin compiled. It appeals to both young readers and old; it is easily accessible; and it contains enough material to generate lively discussion.
